Luxury and elegance: a rare moment reserved for the lucky few. Le Pressoir d’Argent, on the first floor of the Regent Grand Hotel Bordeaux, has been designed throughout by Jacques Garcia, who drew his inspiration from the sea, with pictures of fish and shellfish by photographer Pierre-Yves Hervy Vaillant and beautiful shells subtly arranged by artist Thomas Boog. Marquetry “compass roses” on the floor.

In 2007, after major restoration work inside the old Grand Hotel in Bordeaux, the door of the city’s unique luxury hotel once again started revolving, under the new name of The Regent Grand Hotel Bordeaux.

 Less than a year later, to the great delight of all gourmets and discerning lovers of fine food, the prestigious establishment on the Place de la Comédie opened Le Pressoir d'Argent, a top-class gourmet restaurant entirely dedicated to the infinite nuances of the flavours of the sea.

The Lobster Press at the Pressoir d’Argent is one of the five still in existence in the world today: one in Brussels, one in Berlin, two in Paris and... one in Bordeaux.

A chance for the chef to pursue the ceremonial art of magically combining flavours down to the very last detail.

The Breton blue lobster is brought to the table live and then pan-fried in the kitchen to be served either on its own or with veal sweetbreads, asparagus and morels, depending on the time of year... and then finished in the dining room, where the claws and coral are pressed to create an unforgettable sauce from the first and a surprising Béarnaise from the second.

Time for an aperitif or a moment of relaxation at the end of your meal in the lounge bar...

Warm and intimate, with its pink marble columns and a view of the sky through the superb glass roof, the bar and its armchairs face the dining room, an ideal layout that allows guests to watch the daily spectacle of the ballet of chefs de rang finishing dishes, as the subtle aromas and flavours of the sea waft through the dining room.
